30/08/20 Shepherdswell CC Sunday XI beat St Margaret’s Cosmopolitan CC by 16 runs. 

Report: Shepherdswell made the short trip to St Margaret’s to play St Margaret’ Cosmos, an enthralling game ensued which saw over 400 runs scored… The ‘Well won the toss and chose to bat, a superb knock of 70* from Vinten anchored the innings, and, along with some strong late hitting from Roberts with 44*, led Shepherdswell to a total of 219-4. St Margaret’s Cosmos set about the target positively and fell just short, losing their last wicket in the final over, having amassed 203 in response. Vinten with 4 for 20 from 5 overs, added to his batting, led to a man of the match performance with valuable contributions from the rest of the attack. MOTM: P. Vinten 

29/08/20 Shepherdswell CC Development XI lost to Canterbury CC by 31 runs.

Report: Thanks to hard work from our Groundsman, The ‘Well’s Development XI were fortunate to beat the rain and get a game of cricket on at The Rec. Canterbury elected to bat and one of their senior batsman scored the vast majority of their runs- 103 of the 174 total. A. Evans impressed with 6-17-2, and the young bowlers kept to their lines and lengths with more wickets for A. Lloyd-Yates and E. Robertson, who claimed the crucial wicket of the century maker.

 Shepherdswell batted well but losing wickets at regular intervals hindered the chase. Notable contributions from Wilkinson (32), Evans (31) & Skues (25*) pushed the score to 143 leading to an unfortunate 31 run loss.Another great effort from our youngsters in their final game of the season! 

23/08/20 Shepherdswell CC lost to Hythe Green CC by 7 wickets.

Report: Shepherdswell were once again at home at The Rec against Hythe Green. Shepherdswell won the toss and elected to bat.Good tight bowling from Hythe Green’s openers kept the initial scoring rate down, only James with 35 contributed significantly to Shepherdswell’s total of 139 all out. Hythe Green set about the chase with vigour and cruised to their target with several overs to spare for the loss of 3 wickets, Burns leading the way with an undefeated 73. MOTM: D. 22/08/20 Shepherdswell CC Development XI lost to Folkestone CC by 4 wickets.

Report: Another great afternoon of cricket for the Development XI away at Three Hills against Folkestone 4s. It was a compliment to the players’ performance last week that Folkestone drafted in a few stronger players in an attempt to avenge their defeat.Having won the toss and decided to bat, Tom Skues batted excellently for 18* off 81 balls in a steadying knock after The ‘Well had slumped to 17-5. Initially accompanied by Hayden Hopper in a 10 over steadying partnership, Skues saw The ‘Well to a score of 90 off the allotted 35 overs. Folkestone won by 5 wickets, but it was another excellent bowling and fielding performance- with improved accuracy with the ball opposed to last weekend. Two run outs contributed, and it was brilliant to see first club wickets for Reece Finlan and, in her debut game, Ella Robertson (with a brilliant low catch from Tom Skues at short cover). Full bowling figures: R. 16/08/20 Shepherdswell CC  beat The Three Horseshoes by 6 wickets.

Report: Shepherdswell hosted the 3 Horseshoes at The Rec, lost the toss and the visitors elected to bat.

Good tight bowling all around restricted the Horseshoes to 130-9 from their 40 overs, the main damage done by C Dyer 8-1-20-4, and T Roberts 4-1-12-3. Shepherdswell reached the target, for the loss of just 4 wickets in 25 overs, with the major contributions coming from Robinson, with a career best 40, Palmer 34 and Wilkinson 21*. MOTM: C. 15/08/20 Shepherdswell Development XI beat Folkestone 4s by 38 runs.

Report:  An incredible first win for our Development XI vs. Folkestone CC.

Having lost the toss, Shepherdswell batted first. C. Barton-Hodges (40) batted excellently in an opening stand of 67. Strong contributions from R. Finlan, A. Lloyd-Yates and T. Skues deserved more than they scored as the Well reached 178-8 from 35 overs.

The ‘Well bowled and fielded excellently, with R. Finlan and H. Hopper unlucky not to get wickets. C. Barton-Hodges kept tidily including a stumping and a catch. The rest of the bowlers gained impressive figures: O. Barton-Hodges 7-1-23-2T. Skues 4.4-1-10-2A. Lloyd-Yates 6-0-31-4 A great win for the Development XI as Folkestone were all out for 139, leading to a 39 run win in their inaugural match. MOTM: A. Lloyd- Yates 

09/08/20 Broadstairs CC beat Shepherdswell CC by 122 runs.

Report: Shepherdswell played host to a strong Broadstairs side at a swelteringly hot rec.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat, posting a great total of 253 all out, with Farzad Yasir doing the bulk of the damage with 102, Vinten with 3-41 was the pick of the bowlers. Shepherdswell managed to reach 135 all out in reply, with Wilkinson 32 and Woodruff 23* offering the most resistance in a 122 run defeat. MOM: P.Vinten  02/08/20 Shepherdswell CC beat Whitstable Labour Club by 5 wickets. Report:  Shepherdswell travelled to play  Whitstable Labour Club, won the toss and elected to field. An incredible opening spell from Lugthart, bowling 7 consecutive maidens and finishing with figures of 13-8-17-4 helped limit the hosts to 119-7 on what proved to be a difficult pitch. In reply The ‘Well suffered a few early losses, but a career high knock of 24 from Robinson set the platform for Skues 47* and Roberts 33* to put on an unbeaten 69 for the 6th wicket and steer Shepherdswell to a 5 wicket win. 26/07/20 Shepherdswell CC beat Walmer CC by 102 runs.

Report: Shepherdswell played host to Walmer at The Rec, won the toss and elected to bat. Openers Vinten (37) and Palmer (27) set the platform for some strong middle order hitting from Skues (42) to lead The ‘Well to a total of 158 all out, with Maddison tearing through the tail, returning figures of 7.5-2-8-5.

Shepherdswell’s bowlers came out firing with Barton-Hodges taking 1 for 5 with 3 maidens from his 5 overs and James 3 for 4 with 3 maidens from his 5. That cleared the way for Dyer to rip through the visitors, claiming his maiden 5 for for the club, finishing with figures of 8-0-12-5 as Walmer were bowled out for 56.Shepherdswell win by 102 runs, MOM Chris Dyer 

19/07/20: Match abandoned without a ball bowled vs. Deal Vics CC.

Report: Unfortunately, after a pandemic delayed start to the season, in only the 2nd week, back the weather intervened. Therefore, rain, rather than cricket was the winner.

12/07/20: Shepherdswell CC beat Folkestone Artists by 177 runs.

Report: Cricket finally returned to The Rec as Shepherdswell hosted Folkestone Artists. Normal service was maintained, with The ‘Well losing the toss and being asked to bat. Youth team protege Casper Barton-Hodges top scored with 55, and valuable contributions of 48 from Roberts and 45 from Ruthwell lead to a healthy total of 221. Greenfield was the pick of the Artists bowlers with 5-28. Shepherdswell’s bowling attack was in fine form with the wickets shared around. Lugthart with 3 wickets for a solitary 1 run, James 3-14, Woodruff 2-7 and Orlando Barton-Hodges 2-18 which saw the visitors dismissed for 44.

A good, albeit delayed, start resulting in the first win of the season. MOM Caspar Barton-Hodges
